There was this episode I suddenly recalled that I MUST share wif all who knows me...
On the last sat, kai and me was having lunch at this ABC market.. while halfway thru' our meal, this man in his late thirties approached us with boxes of pens and new year hangies u hang at home... I was too fast to shake my head at him to signify that we are not buying... he politely nodded and walked away. that instant, I caught the sight that he has no left hand, only left wrist and arm. I immediately looked at kai's plate and my own plate and immediately I felt guilty... I can skip a meal or two, spend lesser and give the money to him which will make much more difference to him... I am a person who easily cries when I see people suffering or in a bad living situation. I guess kai knows me well what I am like. Hetold me the guy hasn't walked far, and I immediately rushed to the direction where the man went. I saw him in a saloon being rejected by the women inside, and he was walking out of the saloon when i stopped him. I could see the happiness in his face when he saw me, I guessed he knew I wanted to buy something from him. I bought a pen for $10 bucks. though the pen doesn't look that expensive but I felt so much better spending it on the pen than on other useless things I may buy with it. At least for that day, he do not have to worry abt his dinner...
Thinking back now, my heart aches, for people who seek no help or not knowing where to seek help from, and is finding surviving in singapore more tougher year after year. I now URGE all my frens who knows me, pls do contribute whenever u can to the people along the streets or sitting by the pathways who cant even walk or speak. I've seen a 40+ man sitting on the floor without legs in Bishan, seeing a mute in Chinatown who cant even tell people how hungry he is, and an obese lady who cant even stand in Tampines MRT... $10 can buy u a movie tix, a Mac meal, etc but $10 can buy them so much relieve for the next few day's meals and even electric bill. So do not hesitate to stop, help and give whatever you can afford...
Pls donate not only to charities with government grants, but also to those who are not helped by charity centres. mabel will thank you on their behalves... sincerely.
